Don’t miss the thoughtful, sophisticated work of Cynthia Crawford. Crawford is a lifelong watercolorist and illustrator of acclaimed paintings of dogs.......
Crawford’s truly artistic nature has found outlets both in art and music. She’s been drawing, painting and playing music since her earliest years. Her undergraduate degree was in applied flute at the New England Conservatory of Music. Crawford continues to play several instruments, including the Celtic Harp, but she has never lost sight of her artwork. She is a student of Chinese Brush Painting and received formal art instruction at the Cambridge Center of Adult Education and Massachusetts College of Art. Crawford has applied a lifetime of learning and practicing the art of drawing and watercolor to her breathtaking depiction of the canines we so dearly love.......
Crawford’s success may be due, in part, to her deep appreciation of the connection that so often exists between humans and their canine companions. In her commissioned work, she feels privileged to witness the bond between dog and human and enjoys portraying it in her art.......
Many canines have graced Crawford’s life. The first Terrier, a Cairn, quickly established who was in charge of the relationship by teaching Crawford to “get the ball” when he shot it to her with a poke of his nose. Crawford’s portraits of Cairns, as well as her depictions of the newly AKC-recognized Glen of Imaal Terriers, have drawn considerable attention. She has done design work for the Glen of Imaal Terrier Club of America.......
Currently living in Vermont, Crawford and her dogs enjoy four seasons of abundant natural beauty and wildlife. Crawford shows extensively in art galleries in Vermont and New Hampshire. Her work also is shown through Nature Art International, with upcoming exhibits in the United States. Crawford has donated her work to many canine rescue groups and dog clubs.......
Crawford states that in her work she tries “to capture the elusive spirit of a being, be it animal, human, plant or stone.” Browse the gallery and see her art come alive...........Written by Dawn Henry |
